The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) gives parents certain rights with respects to their children’s educational records. When the child reaches 18 years of age (or attends a school beyond the high school level) these rights transfer to the student. All work produced for a credit-bearing class or in conjunction with a mentored research program is considered an “educational record,” and the educational institution may not disclose it without a release. You will be asked to describe the “record” that you would like to deposit in TCNJ Scholars and to provide consent for the College to disclose it.
