Looking for journal acceptance rates? Neither Ulrichsweb nor any of the other tools listed in the Journal Impact section of this guide publish acceptance rates (but see below). Contacting the editor directly is often the most efficient, indeed in some cases the only way to obtain a particular journal's acceptance (or rejection) rate.

• The Cabell's Directory of Publishing Opportunities, not currently licensed by Gitenstein Library but available at Princeton's Firestone Library, provides journal acceptance rates for publications in business, education, and the social sciences. Unless you are looking for acceptance rates for a humanities journal, Cabell's is well worth consulting.
   
• The MLA Directory of Periodicals, available to TCNJ affiliates as a component of the MLA International Bibliography database, publishes acceptance rates for some humanities journals. If your journal is listed, look for two relevant phrases in the Articles field: "submitted per year" and "published per year."
   
• Reaching out directly to the editor is often a good strategy for finding a journal's acceptance rates. Other places to look for acceptance rates include the "author information" section of the printed journal, the "about" section of a journal's website, and the homepage of the center, society, or organization that sponsors the journal.
