WorldCat is a "union catalog" of millions of library holdings. The catalog makes it easy to compile a list of libraries that hold a particular book. WorldCat provides the best estimate of the total number of owning libraries, an indicator of reach or exposure. Keep in mind that it takes time, often a year or more after publication, for libraries to purchase and catalog new books. Don't lose heart if relatively few libraries hold your book six months or even a year after its publication. Some librarians choose to wait for the publication of book reviews or even less expensive paperback editions before authorizing Acquisitions Departments to purchase books for their local collection(s).
Search by author, title, or ISBN (unique numbers matched to individual books). Look for the number associated with the "Libraries Worldwide" field of the bibliographic record.
