Journalism & Professional Writing

Resources for investigative reporting and research, as well as other writing projects

Overview:

Two great information sources about finding public records:

Information about people

Property Records

Deeds and property titles must be filed with the appropriate office in a given jurisdiction. In these jurisdictions, this office can be called the Tax Assessor, the County Recorder, County Index, or something along those lines. Not all county offices have made their databases publicly available. Sometimes, you might have to visit the office and speak with the clerk about obtaining these records.
