On the resulting page, just to the right of the Subject heading: search box, click "Look up subject heading." On the next page enter a term such as whiteness, and then click Find. A list of terms related to the concept or theme might appear. Check the radio button next to the subjects you are interested in, and then click Add to search. Finally, click the Search button to retrieve a highly targeted, relevant list of literary criticisms. Narrow your results even further by clicking on "Modify search" and then entering a second theme (or search facet) such as epiph* to the Keywords search box. You are unlikely to hit upon the keywords that will elicit the most relevant results on the first, second, or even third attempt. Be willing to try different combinations of keywords until relevant results are revealed.
