SUBJECT HEADING Searching

*  Library of Congress Subject Headings are "fixed" language.  Each record for a book or film in the library catalog has been assigned one or more subject headings.

* To sesarch the complete Library Catalog, choose More Search Options on the library homepage.

*     Enter an official LC Subject Heading in the search box.  Next choose "Subject Heading" from the pull-down menu, before submitting the search.

*  Click on the subject heading to get a list of books.  Remember to sort the list by Publication Date Descending to see the most recent books displayed first..

Notable Social Studies Trade Books for Young People

K-12 TEXTBOOKS

K-12 Textbooks are located on Level 2 of the TCNJ Library.  The textbooks are organized by the Dewey Decimal Classification System.  In this system the 900s contain books on history, geography and biography.

Books for Children & Young Adults

The Children's/Young Adult Collection is located on Level 2 of the TCNJ Library.

Three ways to identify books to use with children :

1. Choose More Search Options on the Library Homepage.  Type in a keyword and select "Children's/YA Collection" from the LIMIT TO menu.

2. Search by Subject Headings.
