LIT 310: Literature for Younger Readers

(Indexing begins 1984-; earliest Full Text from 1990-) Provides citations and abstracts to over 4,000 journals covering most academic areas of study including biological sciences, economics, communications, computer sciences, engineering, language and linguistics, arts and literature, medical sciences, and women’s studies. Approximately two-thirds of the articles are available as full text. Also contains images which can be accessed by clicking on the “image collections” icon.

(Generally 1993- , some older) Provides reviews of children’s and young adult literature (Pre-K through 12), as well as books for education professionals. Identifies awards, honors, prizes, best book lists, and state reading lists associated with a title. Lists measurement parameters of reading measurement programs such as Accelerated Reader, Degrees of Reading Power, and Reading Counts.

Literature Resource Center is an online resource for research on literary topics, authors, and their works. Its coverage includes all genres and disciplines, all time periods, and all regions of the world.

(1966-)The Education Resource Information Center (ERIC) provides access to scholarly educational literature and to ERIC Documents. This resource from the U.S. Dept. of Education contains over 1.4 million records for article citations and abstracts from education journals, together with links to many thousands of full-text documents (books, papers, reports, and more) from ERIC back to 1966. ERIC actively indexes more than 1,100 journals (90% peer-reviewed).

(Mid 1970s-) A primarily fulltext collection of international academic journals, magazines, newsletters, pamphlets, reports, papers and proceedings devoted to women’s and gender issues. Free text searching and complete indexing are available. (This is a VALE Database.)

The publications covered by GenderWatch focus on the impact of gender across a broad spectrum of disciplines including history. Like its companion database, Ethnic NewsWatch, it provides access to some primary source material (narrow results by Document type after running your search).

(1887-) The most comprehensive international database of psychology. Provides citations and abstracts from the academic, research and practice literature in psychology, and includes materials from related disciplines such as medicine, psychiatry, education, social work and criminology. Indexes journals, books and book chapters, dissertations and technical reports.

(1963-) Indexes over 2,000 journals from 35 countries, dissertations, papers, books and book chapters in sociology and related fields such as demographics, criminology, policy studies and family studies. Citations and abstracts are provided.
