Getting Started in Health Science Searching

Here is our article parts module again! Pay attention to the Methods section. It is usually clearly labeled and near the beginning of an article. Be sure to scroll down in the module to read the definitions of different kinds of research. Look up any terms you don't understand in reference sources. When it comes to research methods, you may have to use books!

The Genetic Testing Registry (GTR) provides a central location for voluntary submission of genetic test information by providers. The scope includes the test's purpose, methodology, validity, evidence of the test's usefulness, and laboratory contacts and credentials. Note that the NIH does not independently verify the information on this registry.

PRSMA stands for Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis. This is an established set of criteria for writing review articles. If you need to know more about how to write a review, or want to look at guidelines and protocols, you'll find examples here.
