On this page you can see how to structure citations for most of the most common types of publications (for example, a book, a journal article, a newspaper article, a film).

A style guide provided by biology faculty. Based in part on the more widely used Council of Science Editors (CSE) style, this guide is "intended to provide formatting instructions, as well as appropriate content and organization, for each part of the research paper and is to be used as the standard throughout the entire four-year Biology Curriculum"

This citation style is widely used--and widely adapated--by journals in the sciences (Handbook help provided by University of Wisconsin's Writing Center).
