Library Services during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Curbside Pickup

The R. Barbara Gitenstein Library is now providing curbside pickup of books or media materials for faculty, staff, students, alumni, and paid library users.

For Alumni Card and Paid Library Users: please see the tab labeled "Alumni & Guests."

For Faculty, Staff, and Students: To request items from the library, please locate the item(s) in our catalog and place a hold request for the item. Instructions on placing a hold in the library system may be found here: in this video or at If you need assistance locating an item, please use our Ask A Librarian Service.

After you place your hold, we will retrieve the item(s) for you. Depending on when you place your hold(s) and the volume of requests we have received, we will start working on your request that day or the following work day. Once your requested materials are ready, you will get an email with instructions on how to schedule your curbside pickup.  You will be able to select either drive-up or walk-up pickup of your items. As part of the scheduling process, you will be given the option to designate someone else to pick up your items.

For Drive-Up Pickup: At the time of your appointment, please pull up near the Library in the circle at the end of D Street (near the Library, Alumni Grove, and Ely/Allen/Brewster residence halls) and call 609-771-2311. We will then check your materials out to your account, bring them outside, and put them in the trunk of your car. Please have your TCNJ ID ready to hold up to the window so we can confirm your patron account. If you have designated someone to pick up your item(s) for you, they can show their driver’s license.

For Walk-Up Pickup: Please walk to the northside of the library building (side facing the School of Education )to the table outside  and call 609-771-2311.  Library staff will then check your materials out to your account, and bring them outside, and put them on the table for contactless pickup.  Please have your TCNJ ID ready to hold up so we can confirm your patron account.  Masks are required!

In order to maintain social distancing, please return all materials to the book drop beside the library doors facing Alumni Grove. Please do not try to enter the library or to hand materials to library employees. If you have any questions please contact
